Wargamers

In February 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine; bombing settlements, killing thousands and displacing vast swathes of the population. It also caused the Kyiv Legends Warhammer club to disband. The club offered a space for gamers in Kyiv to come together and feel part of a small but tight knit community. The invasion took that away with members leaving the country or joining the armed forces.

Viktor Sharov who set up the group vowed to continue. As some normality returned to Kyiv he pulled the group together and found a way to continue, finding comfort within the chaos. It's also not lost on the group that their miniature wars are what gives them some solace during the real war going on around them.

Wargamers is a short documentary about tabletop gaming, community and resistance that tells the story of the Kyiv Legends gaming group, the current state of Ukraine and its people.
